Kalakand Recipe

Kalakand is a very popular Indian sweet made out of mawa to which is added homemade paneer (cheese). It is also known as misri mawa in some parts of India. Kalakand is believed to have originated to the Braj area of western Uttar Pradesh.


How To Make Kalakand in Microwave

Recipe type: Low fat dairy item
Preparation time: 15 minute

Ingredients For kalakand

  • Paneer, 200 g, see paneer recipe
  • Fat free Cream 250 g
  • Skim milk powder, 200 g
  • Sugar, fine, 80 g
  • Cardamom, freshly powder, 1/2 tsp
  • Saffron strands, a few
  • Pist achio, chopped, 2 tsp

Preparation of Kalakand

  1. Mix milk powder and cream.
  2. Cook in microwave for 2 minutes and mix well. Repeat it for 6-7 times. Cool it down and add sugar.
  3. Add Paneer, cardamom powder and saffron strands and mix well.
  4. If the mixture is too thick, add some cream.
  5. Garnish with pistachio pieces.

Serve kalakand cold.
