My Uric acid level is 7.5 which seems to be higher as compared to the maximum level of 7. What foods has to be avoided or shall I go for any madication?

A diet high in purine rich protein promotes the build-up of uric acid.

  1. Eating purine rich foods such as anchovies, organ meats and sardine can increase levels of uric acid. Follow a gout diet.
  2. Eating celery and black cherries are two popular home remedies to reduce levels of uric acid.
  3. Drinking plenty of water (8 glasses per day) helps to dilute and flush uric acid out of the body.
  4. Avoid refined carbohydrates. It may help to maintain healthy levels of uric acid. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are good sources of complex carbohydrates.

    This vitamin C may help the excretion of uric acid.

  5. Include cabbage, strawberries, kiwi fruit, peppers, mandarins, oranges, potatoes in your diet.
