Kalakand is a very popular Indian sweet made out of milk. It is also known as misri mawa in some parts of India. Kalakand is believed to have originated in the Braj area of Western Uttar Pradesh. kalakand recipe is given using microwave.

Ingredients For Kalakand
Using Paneer and Milk Powder:
- Paneer, 200 g, see paneer recipe
- Fat free or low fat Cream 250 g
- Skim milk powder, 200 g
- Sugar, fine, 80 g
- Cardamom, freshly powder, 1/2 tsp
- Saffron strands, a few
- Pist achio, chopped, 2 tsp
Using Milk:
- Milk, 2 litre
- Alum (phitkari), crushed,1/4 tspn
- Sugar, 4 Tsp
- Pistachios, chopped, 1 Tsp
Directions
Using Paneer and Milk Powder:
- Mix milk powder and cream.
- Cook in microwave for 2 minutes and mix well. Repeat it for 6-7 times. Cool it down and add sugar.
- Add Paneer, cardamom powder and saffron strands and mix well.
- If the mixture is too thick, add some milk.
- Garnish kalakand with pistachio pieces and serve cold.
Directions
Using Milk:
- Boil the milk in a thick bottomed skillet till it thickens slightly. Stirring continuously add the alum continue heasting till the milk becomes thick and grainy. Add the sugar and mix well. Cook for five minutes or untill the mixture thickens. Sprinkle the sliced pistachios on top and serve cold.
