Making Shrikhand at Home

Shrikhand is an Indian dessert, specially Gujarati and Maharashtrian cuisine, but has become very popular in all over the India. Shrikhand, made of strained yogurt, is a very tasty dish and very quick to make at home. Shrikhand is very healthy and nutritious dish.

Shrikhand and mango shrikhand is a very tasty and nutritious dish and very quick to make at home.

Recipe type: fat free.
Preparation time: 60 minute


  • 1 kg Yogurt, 1 kg
  • Milk, 1 Tsp warm
  • Sugar, powdered, 1/2 cup
  • Slivers Almonds, 1 Tsp
  • Saffron, a few stranads


  1. Tie yogurt (curd) in a muslin cloth and hang it in a cool place for 3-4 hours until all the whey has drained off. Untie the cloth and transfer the yogurt in a bowl.
  2. Dissolve the saffron in the warm milk.
  3. Mix together the yogurt, sugar, saffron milk and cardamom powder in a bowl blend in blender.
  4. Garnish with silver almonds.

Serve Shrikhand cold.

You can keep Shrikhand 3-4 days in refrigerator.

Mango Shrikhand

Additional Ingredients for Mango Shrikhand
mango pulp, 1/2 cup


Strain the mango pulp to remove most of the liquid and mix well to the above prepared shrikhand.
